Icons Player Levels

Ok, I know I should stop posting designs before posting more about the characters, but I can't help myself ;-) Just finished the cleanup for the isignias/badges that show the current player level.

There will be a total of 20 player levels. The higher the level the higher the player's damage and healing multipliers. - But more about game mechanics at a later point.

Here are the icons:

Faction Logos

I know I should be keeping up with showing you the latest of the game's characters but instead I want to showcase the different factions. Just finished the designs for the five different groups that the player will get to know while playing DawnOfSolaris:

  • Solaris: The player's home station and HQ
  • The Raiders: A pirate like pack with a charismatic leader
  • The Galactic Council: The established leadership of the united planet federation
  • Psycorp: A dubios yet immensly powerful corporation
  • The Blackguard: Knowbody really knows where they're from or what their aim is
And here are the individual Logos: I'm planning on introducing them during dialogue sequences, so that they are helpful to easier navigate the story. I don't want them to be just eye candy for this blog and for world-building-sake.

Let's get this started!

All good things need to start somewhere. In my case I decided to start this game development diary with the game's logo and a quick explanation of the game mechanics.
Dawn of Solaris - Logo

Dawn of Solaris is mobile game that mixes match-3 game mechanics with a space opera. This means that while players will be able to build and outfit their 3D spaceships they will not be able to directly control them during missions.

They control them by solving match-3-puzzles on one part of the screen and then watching the events unfold on the other. A little bit like Blizzards StarJeweled,  though completely different ;-)

The meta game will offer two incentives to keep players busy: An engaging background story and - of course - the possibility to build and upgrade ever more powerful ships. What's important here is that ships are divided in categories like "Fighters", "Heavy Gunships" or "Speeders". This means that each of them has different base attributes and therefore is more suitable for solving (surviving ;-)) a certain kind of mission.
