Let's get this started!

All good things need to start somewhere. In my case I decided to start this game development diary with the game's logo and a quick explanation of the game mechanics.

Dawn of Solaris is mobile game that mixes match-3 game mechanics with a space opera. This means that while players will be able to build and outfit their 3D spaceships they will not be able to directly control them during missions. 

They control them by solving match-3-puzzles on one part of the screen and then watching the events unfold on the other. A little bit like Blizzards StarJeweled,  though completely different ;-)

The meta game will offer two incentives to keep players busy: An engaging background story and - of course - the possibility to build and upgrade ever more powerful ships. What's important here is that ships are divided in categories like "Fighters", "Heavy Gunships" or "Speeders". This means that each of them has different base attributes and therefore is more suitable for solving (surviving ;-)) a certain kind of mission.
